• The area of treatment should be shaved 12 hours prior.
• Wear loose-fitting clothes on the day.
• Avoid alcohol or smoking the night before and on the day of the treatment.
• Arrive early prior so that you are relaxed.
• Do not exercise before the treatment.
• Avoid applying any products on areas of treatment, keep it dry and clean prior to treatment.
• Avoid exposing the skin to UV light (sunlight or sunbeds) or apply any self-tanning products for 10 days prior to your treatment.
• Do not wax or tweeze hairs in the area of treatment. If these have been performed on the area of treatment you will need to wait 4 – 8 weeks until starting your course of laser hair removal.
• Stay hydrated by drinking water.

• Avoid shaving the area for 72 hours after your treatment.
• Avoid hot baths, showers, saunas, steam rooms or exercises that will cause you to get hot for 48 hours.
• Throughout the duration of your treatment course, do not wax or tweeze hairs in the area that is being treated. The only method of hair removal that can be used whilst undergoing laser hair removal is shaving.
• Avoid exposing the skin to UV light (sunlight or sunbeds) or apply any self-tanning products for 10 days after to your treatment.
• Avoid makeup on the treated areas for 48 hours.
• Avoid perfumed products for 48 hours.
• Always use SPF.
• We recommend that you apply an aloe vera gel/cream to the treated area following treatments.
• Stay hydrated by drinking water.

How does it work?

During laser hair removal, a laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat, which damages the tube-shaped sacs within the skin (hair follicles) that produce hairs. This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth.

Is the treatment painful?

Most people describe the treatment as uncomfortable rather than painful. The level of discomfort varies between individuals and the different areas being treated. Some people feel nothing, some feel a heat sensation, and some have likened the sensation to mild stinging or the flicking of a rubber band. Generally the coarser or thicker the hair, the greater the sensation. There is usually some form of skin response post treatment, normally a mild redness.

Are the results permanent?

Results vary from person to person and hormonal changes can affect these, which is why we say that this process is a way of permanently reducing hair growth in targeted areas. Most clients require a minimum of 6 – 8 sessions to see the best results, however, this is dependent on the individual and we recommend top up sessions at least once a year to ensure hair growth stays reduced.

How often are treatments performed?

Typically there should be 6-8 weeks in between each session, but your technician will discuss a tailored treatment plan with you.

Who can receive laser hair removal treatment with Carbon Blush and the Lumenis LightSheer Desire?

What can I expect during a laser hair removal session?

Your practitioner will talk you through a basic consultation ensuring you have adhered to the pre-treatment protocols, asking questions to ensure that you are not likely to suffer from any adverse effects like burning. Following this both yourself and the practitioner will wear protective eyewear and commence use of the laser head on the appropriate area.

What’s the difference between our laser and IPL?

IPL stands for ‘Intense Pulsed Light’. Our hair removal system uses a direct red laser light, which is stronger, to destroy the hair follicle and inhibit future hair growth. IPL technology is much older and more painful. A client would require many more treatments of IPL in order to achieve maximum hair reduction, whereas the Lumenis LightSheer DESIRE will produce better results in a smaller amount of sessions. Older IPL is known for only being able to treat certain skin types, but with new technology lasers such as the LightSheer Desire, we are able to treat all skin types.
